Meet
the Main Brain
Susan Foster is the president of Brainy Training. For over
a dozen years she’s been using her smarts to create results-driven training
programs for companies of all sizes.
She has consulted on, designed and developed custom training
for thousands of people in an impressive array of industries. An
active force in the training and development community, Foster is past president
of the consultants’ branch of the Minnesota chapter of ISPI (International
Society for Performance Improvement) and a member
of ODNetwork. She’s also active in NAWBO (National Association for Women
Business Owners) and the National Writers Union.
Foster graduated magna cum laude in English and Psychology from Mankato State
University. Through college she waited tables, worked
at the largest printing plant in the universe, and taught freshman
composition.
After brief stints as a headhunter and an editor, she talked a custom education
company into giving her a chance as an intern. Her learning curve was sharp
and three months later, she was promoted to full-time. After six and a half
years in the training trenches, she struck out on her own in 1996.
Since then, Foster has focused on creating highly effective training with bottom-line
results. Her philosophy is simple: Your company should
make more money as a direct result of your training efforts. If that’s
not happening, your company is wasting more than money – it’s wasting
time, talent and the potential for greatness.
